Cricket match between members and students was held on August 11, 2002 at RIMC ground. It was raining continuously from the morning. For once it was proposed to abandon tha match, but the enthusiasm of the players was high enough to be dampened by the rain. Finally, the match got underway at 11:00 am with special efforts of Mr. Harinder Bhatia. The toss was won by the students and they elected to field. The members made 144 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 30 overs. The students made the match highly competative by chasing the total with great zeal but could muster only 129 runs under very difficult batting conditions due to constant rain. The members finally won by 15 runs. The Chairman and the Vice-Chairman distributed the prizes to the winners and the participants. CPE Study Circle meeting and felicitation of the students (who passed in May 2002 examination) was organized on August 17, 2002, at Hotel Great Value. The first topic of the day was "Accounting Standard-18- Related Party Disclosures", which was taken up by the newly qualified member Mr. Amit Goyal. Mr. Rajiv Sahni took the other topic which was "Need for the new audit report format and its implications". He explained the recent changes in the format of audit report and the changes in the relevant laws in that respect. The presentation of both the speakers were immaculate and very well researched. The members and students appreciated the background material provided by Mr. Rajiv Sahni. The meeting was very interactive and the speakers replied to the queries raised by the audience after the presentation. The study circle was followed by the felicitation of the students who were successful in the examination held in May 2002.
